since her arrival, i have been eagerly awaiting the chance to go skating.
today we were ready to mount a skating expedition.

she rented skates, i had mine sharpened.
we eagerly lept out of desert castle, carrying a folding chair to assist in our poor ice skating techniques. we were scarved, leg warmered and ready. we were heading out to the two nearby skating ponds to enjoy the edmonton landscape.

we stepped out into the brilliant alberta sunshine (the sun shines every day here) and noticed the dripping.
the snow, once so cold powdery that it sounded like cornstarch was melting.

it's +3 degrees celcius, too warm for skating.

now we are dejectedly sipping our hot chocolates and sitting indoors, because it's too warm outside. too warm for any winter sorts of activities, that is. too wet from the dripping snow.

i hope we have better luck engaging in alberta-style fun tonight.
