i called my pa and ma.
they keep me up on all the small ontario hometown news.

my ma is eagerly looking for a chance to fight. she isn't a big lady, not much into hand to hand combat anymore, but she can soundly crush anyone with a look or a scolding.

my pa laughs easier than he used to. i think it is because he is rapidly replacing all of his old, worn parts with metal and plastic, science and machinery. he's a cyborg. a jolly one.

Print Story crashing the procyon party
there were far fewer granola bars in my kitchen than usual this morning.

i was under-slept and cranky.
there was a trail of pistachio shells leading from the bottom of the porch steps to the other side of the yard.

Print Story Toronto

Today everything Toronto came into sharp focus when I was trying to head to the library to get some things done. My way was breifly and delightfully interrupted by the St. Patrick's day parade. There, after the ambulances, shriners and irish dance schools, in between the local associations of County Donegal and County Armagh was the Philippine Heritage Marching Band, playing Ricky Martin.

we'd been in sporadic contact over that time.

he's been hospitalized/incarcerated/treated in various mental health centres.

it was delightful and terrifying and crazy.

Print Story today's awkward conversation

i've been going skating on the outdoor rink in the park near my house. most weekdays i make it out and skate around the "pleasure pad" while local teens, retired guys or other variously underemployed types hurl each other around the "hockey and shinny pad" from 9 - 5.

today i encountered this one guy in the dressing room.

"And let me tell you, it doesn't get any easier."

spacejack can be counted on for wise words of comfort in times of need.

the memorial was also attended by old friends lee and sylphide.
we ate cheese, peanut butter and tiny tomatoes, those were spiny's favourite treats.

farewell to dead pets.

Print Story hey - don't fuck with my shrubbery
as soon as i said it, i felt like a grownup.
i think it was the looks of horror from the gaggle of pop swilling teen boys i was scolding.

i was dragging home a metre tall ficus and a huge trailing mandevilla on the ttc.

it's "fall planting" season for me.h
