i've been thinking a lot about food security lately, attending toronto's food policy council meetings and getting ready for my trip to cuba.

ni and i like to make stuff ourselves, like bread and beer, wine and meals from scratch, and we like to grow our own food. it's fun to have made something all by myself.

one day, i noticed a post expressing a need for small animal foster homes.
then i got entangled in the complexities of hamster transport.

when watching the world junior hockey championships last night, ni and i were discussing and wondering:
what is the history and sociology of hockey music?

there they were, in the saddle dome in calgary, and somewhere up behind the cheap seats, was a man with a keyboard.

dum da dum. bam ba bam! doodlee doot do do!

it was organ music.
when did hockey become associated with an organ? how old is the organ music that we hear at hockey games?

having to force feed a friend isn't much fun.
especially when you can't explain that it's for his own good.

my immediate supervisor went on maternity leave.
it's the busiest time of the year, and the hours are too long.
the office is chaos, and it's getting in my way.

i had a few beautiful moments anyway. i love this city.

i called my pa and ma.
they keep me up on all the small ontario hometown news.

my ma is eagerly looking for a chance to fight. she isn't a big lady, not much into hand to hand combat anymore, but she can soundly crush anyone with a look or a scolding.

my pa laughs easier than he used to. i think it is because he is rapidly replacing all of his old, worn parts with metal and plastic, science and machinery. he's a cyborg. a jolly one.
